Spire #2 Being Placed…

Yesterday as I was watching the construction on the temple, I could tell that the second spire was going to be placed sometime today.  Well at 8:00 this morning this is what I saw looking out my south living room window.

This is from my south kitchen window…

Wow!!!! It is awesome to see the crane so gently lift and place these huge pieces of exterior forms into place.

I think that I have a perfect view of this gorgeous building.

Trip to the Grandparents…..

We got to have Tiffeni and Cody with us for one and a half weeks and it was so fun.  Here are some pictures of them while they were here.

Tiff on a lazy day

Tiff loved just being herself………

……and Cody decided that he needed a haircut so I handed him the clippers and he cut his own hair.  It really turned out great.  He did a fantastic job and I only had to cut around his ears and his neckline.

Cody was so fascinated by the temple and went to the construction site several times while he was here.  These are some of my favorite pictures that he took for me.

Our town is all buzzing with the anticipation of Angel Moroni being placed on the east spire in two weeks.  It will happen on July 12th at noon.  We will be able to see this happen right from our front yard or we can walk the two blocks and be right there.

I love the temple and being so close that you can actually see it from our house is a blessing in itself.  I know for me it has changed my spirituality and I can hardly wait for the doors to open.

Maybe our family can plan a temple trip to do baptisms when it is finished.  That would be so neat.

Look What’s Happening in the Shop!!!!

Orangano End Table

Isn’t this going to be a beauty when it is done?

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!!!

I want it in my livingroom!!!!

Our Week In A Nutshell….

My life has been a roller coaster the past couple of weeks with two events now under the belt.

We met Tony and Danielle on June 14th in Salt Lake to pick up Tiffeni and Cody.  They both wanted to work this summer so Grandpa said they could.

We went to Logan Summerfest on June 16-18 and had a fantastic event.  I love going to this event as the staff is so fun to work with.  We met a lot of our fellow concessionaires there from our past events.  It is always fun to trade stories and share our friendship.

On Sunday June 19th, Derek, Kelly, Canyon, Evan, Wendy, Carl, Kameron and Mason came and brought Father’s Day dinner for Dick.  We did have a fun time.  The best part was just spending time as a family… AND….I did not have to cook.  The guys did it all and Kelly made the most scrumptious salads and Key Lime pie.

We spent a busy week running everywhere that was needed to get ready for Syracuse Days on June 24-25th.  On Friday morning my cute niece, Tawna, called to see if we were going to be there this year.  Phoenix was so wanting to come visit us.  I told her to come over after 5:00.

When Phoenix got there, she was so excited and was beaming like a ray of sunlight when she seen us.  I love that kid so much.  She had to show me her tumbling acts and told me that she was getting a new baby brother.  Maddox was a little standoffish but when it was time to go I got the bestest hug from him.  He is the cutest tow head, blue eyed little boy.  He steals my heart when I see him.

Our event was good and this year we were placed in the perfect spot with shade all day long.  It has taken me six years to get that spot.  Krista does a good job organizing the event and is so fun to work with.

Danielle drove over from Nevada yesterday and picked up Cody and Tiffeni.  She was here for 15 minutes and then was back on the road.  It was a very long day for her, but Cody was ready to go home and missed his family.  It was fun having the kids here and our house sure is quite.

This week is filled with work, work, work and more work trying to get things ready for Quilted Bear and our July 4th event in West Point.  My to do list is very large and slowly I will get all the chores done that are on the list.

It was announced last night at the fireside that the Angel Moroni will be set on our temple on July 12th at noon.  Excitement is going through the air.  We can see the temple spire's from our house and it is so fun to see each piece go into place. We will be there with bells on waiting for this occasion to happen.

This is our life in a nutshell for the past weeks.

Weekend Fun!!

DSCN4028

Kelson came to spend Friday and Saturday with us.  It was so good to have him with us.  We haven’t had him in our home for so long and it was nice to talk and find out more about his new adventure in life.  Way to go Kelson!!! You will do good.

DSCN4036

Ducky came for the weekend and we made a cage for him.  He is the cutest little feller.

DSCN4025

He got to have his own pool made from the top of the sand box.  He ate lots of worms and one was about as big as he is.

DSCN4029

We put some bread in the driveway……

DSCN4032

and fed these seagulls.

DSCN4034

We even chased a cat away so our new friends would come eat the bread.

Yeap!!!! we had a good weekend full of adventure and fun.

My Birthday…….

5

My birthday was on Thursday, June 9th.  I love my birthday as I get to spend it with so many wonderful people, either in person or in heart.  I have always loved my special day because my family has always made a BIG deal about this day each year.

My parents were both in the room the day I made my appearance into this wonderful world and welcomed me with open arms.  I love them dearly for giving me life and raising me into the woman that I am today.  They set the examples that were needed to mold my life.  Thanks Mom and Dad!!!

Canyon spent Wednesday night with us so he could be here for my birthday.  My day began with  Canyon and Dick brought into the house a beautiful cake, ice cream and a gift, a Kindle.   Since we had not eaten breakfast, Canyon thought it would be a good idea to have cake and ice cream then, but we did not.  They  took me to breakfast at Canyon’s favorite place (and Grandpa Dale’s too), JD’s here in Brigham City.

I got to talk with Danielle, Brook, Mom and Dad, Kelly, Derek, Russel, Richard, Cody, Tiffeni and Meghan and a host of Facebook well wishers.  What a fun day I had.  My gifts were many and included a new quad (Danielle’s family), a subscription to the San Juan Record (Mom and Dad), a new recipe box, a family album for my purse, a wall hanging (all from Derek, Kelly and little ones) and many beautiful cards from well wishers.

We were told to be at Derek’s house at 4:30, dressed in our Sunday clothes and to bring a bag so we could spend the night.  We knew nothing other than that.  Our minds ran wild with what was happening for the evening.  Not once did we guess what we would be doing.

7

At 4:45 we were in the car and whisked away to Salt Lake City.  We arrived at Trolley Square and taken into Rodizzio’s (a Brazilian restaurant) where we had the most delicious food.  I was given my gifts.  As we were getting ready to leave, all the servers came to our table with a piece of flan with a lit candle and sang Happy Birthday to me in Brazilian (or whatever it is they speak).  We were all laughing and it was so fun.  Thanks guys.

6

From there we went to the Conference Center.  This was a treat as I had never been inside this gorgeous building.

8

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was presenting a concert that night honoring the military.

3

Wow!!!!! what an awesome experience to be in the presence of this great choir and some very high ranking military personnel and in the presence of this great man in my life.

2010-12-16_17-31-06_88             Derek

As we were leaving for the evening, this is what was in my view:

1

Yes, this was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Thanks everyone for making me feel like the most special person in your life’s.  I love you all more than words can express.

Introducing Spike…

Spike

This is Spike….isn’t he the cutest little ducky you have ever seen.  Momma Duck abandoned him yesterday and took the other eight duckys to the pond.   Spike is now living in the Madsen home.

They have a cute duck pen in the garden that has a swimming pool for Spike.  Oh how he loves to swim already. He has all these natural instincts that fascinate me.   Evan has taught him how to eat ducky food, drink water, swim, eat grass, eat worms and to walk.  She is such a good ducky sitter.

Spike is not to stable on his little feet and stumbles a lot.  One time he tumbled over and had a straw sticking up out of his tuff on his head.  He is so stinking cute and I just love him.

I could sit and watch him all day long.  Maybe they will let me ducky sit someday soon.  Hope they bring him on Saturday when they come see us.  He is such an adorable ball of down.

Welcome to this world little Spike!!

Spike 2

Happy Birthday Derek….

Derek

It seems just like yesterday that I was holding you in my arms, but look at you now.  You have grown into one handsome dude.

I remember how tiny you were when you were born and how proud I was to be your mother.  You have always been so fun to be around.  Whenever we have family gatherings we knew where you were by finding the group with all the kids.  You were/are like a magnet and everyone wants to be with you.

Memories are many of the accomplishments you have made in your life and we as parents are so proud of what you have become.  You are everything that we ever hoped for in a son.  Thanks for being that boy.

I love the story “I’ll Love You Forever and Always”.  These are my sentiments to you.  Remember those words because that is how I feel about you.

Love you so very much and thanks for these fantastic years.  May you have many more wonderful memories to share in the future.

Curio Stand

DSCN3969

This was a find that Kelly found for us one one of her shopping trips.  It originally was an antiqued gold with broken, chipped glass shelves.

I just adore the detail of this stand from its crowning top to its twisted metal sides.

DSCN3968

The hubby painted it oil rubbed bronze and cut inserts for the shelves out of wood.  What a difference it made in the curio stand.

DSCN3970

What a fun piece of furniture to display those treasures that are needing a new place to be displayed on.

Burgundy End Table

DSCN3939

Our favorite place to shop is the DI in Brigham City.  On one of our shopping trips we found an end table that looked so ugly in its dark brown color with gold hinges and handles.

DSCN3938

Dick took off all the hardware and painted them oil rubbed bronze (my favorite color right now) and painted the end table a beautiful burgundy color.

DSCN3940

I took black glaze and made sure that the decorative items on the end table were coated and detailed.  We decided not to distress this piece.

DSCN3937

I do like the ending results….

DSCN3942

of this end table.

It could be used as a night stand also.  There is tons of storage inside this piece of furniture.

Our babies are hatched….

hatched babies

Our little ducklings have hatched.  Kelly said there are six that she can count and they are all cuddled together so she really is not sure if there are more.

This is so exciting.  I am anxious to go to the Madsen’s to see our little babies.   This is just like Christmas for our family.

In His Arms…

Today has been emotional for me and as I sat in fast and testimony meeting tears just would not stop.  There was such an overwhelming amount of thankfulness in my heart for blessings that our family has received this past week and a half from our loving and gracious Father in Heaven.

Just briefly going back to Wednesday, May 25th when Nolan was injured and had to be air lifted to the hospital.  I remember at 2:30 becoming very agitated to the point that I could not calm down.  My body was shaking so hard and nothing would stop the shakes.  I told Dick that I did not know what was wrong with me and that the agitation was getting worse.

I remember sitting in my chair trying to stop shaking.  Sometimes when I get these bouts of shaking, I can sit in my chair and very tightly press my back into the back of the chair and they will subside, but not this time.  I was totally miserable and useless to my self and my family.

At this same time Nolan was being tossed through the air and receiving the medical help that was needed to get him ready to be air lifted to the hospital.

At that very moment of time our Father in Heaven  wrapped his arms about Nolan as he was flying through the air.   He gently laid him on the ground only letting minor injuries befall his body.

Heavenly Father made a miracle out of a situation that could have been so tragic.  Today we are rejoicing that our Nolan is alive, healthy and happy instead of attending services to honor his short life.

My testimony this day is I know that God does hear our pleas that are sent heavenward.  That he does protect us from harms way.  I am thankful that Nolan was not hurt worse than he was and that he is still with us today.

I am also grateful for Heavenly Father putting His arms about Brook in her hours of anguish and trauma.  With His over abundance of love, she was given the strength she needed in order to attend to her child’s needs.  She was able to give him the comfort that he needed and be with him in a calming way.

Today I am thankful for a loving Father in Heaven and for his strong arms that encircle us in such a loving way.

What is happening in Clinton…

Today Canyon got this…..

New tent

and this is what they were doing tonight….

                        city camping

doesn’t get much better for city camping!!!!  A fire and roasting marshmallows.

Green Bench

DSCN3977

With lots imagination this gorgeous headboard became a bench.  We had to find a footboard for the arms and then a seat was constructed.

DSCN3979

There was a flaw in the motifs that were on the bed.  So the handy dandy hubby took the coping saw and fixed the piece on both sides so that they matched.  He had to do a little sanding to make the motif perfect.

DSCN3997

With our famous primer, no one is able to tell that this motif was not suppose to look like this.

DSCN3996

Next the entire bench was primed…..

DSCN3999

then the painting began.  We only use Krylon spray paint on our furniture as it has the best nozzle and it is easier to use.  Plus the coverage is fantastic.  Several light coats are used and the ending results are like furniture that you purchase from the store.

DSCN4014

We used Hosta green then distressed the bench before adding the final touch of a glaze tinted brown.

DSCN4020

DSCN4017

I love the tall posts on this bench.  To me it makes the bench look so elegant.

DSCN4019

After applying the glaze, the color suddenly changed and I love this bench.  We moved it into the living room where I will be able to enjoy it until it finds a new home.

Black & White Desk

DSCN4009

We finished this desk today.  It is hard to believe that it was once a yucky brown with gold handles.

    DSCN4011DSCN4012

Dick took the handles and painted them a glossy black. The desk is painted in ivory, distressed then glazed in black.

DSCN4013

This desk would make a great piece of furniture for a boy or girl’s room.  They would be able to hide all their treasures in one of seven drawers.
