Thrifty Find….

Last night we stopped into Saver’s to see what they might have.  We walked over to the furniture department and spotted 3 Windsor chairs for $6.99 each.  This was a great find and we were excited.  Just then an announcement came over the intercom that all furniture was 50% off.  Wow!!! that made my chairs $3.50 each.  This was making me giddy.

The plan for these chairs will be a bench similar to this:

I went to the children’s clothing to see what they had.  Dick came over and wanted me to come look at a headboard he had found.  When I seen it, my heart started pitter patting as it was what I had been looking for.  There was not a price on it so we found one of the workers and asked him what it was priced at.  He said the footboard was in the back and the set was priced at $10.  Then there was 50% off that.  $5.00 for the both.   Now I am head over heels with giddiness.

The bed  is a double and perfect for the spot I have in the bedroom.  This is basically what it will end up looking like:

  I am one very happy camper at this point.  I can hardly wait to get these projects started.

Happy 18th Birthday Tiffeni

Today Tiffeni is 18 years old and I can still remember the afternoon that she was born.  I was at work when the call came and could hardly wait to get to the hospital to welcome this most precious gift sent to our family.

We have always been best buds and she has brought more joy into my life than one can imagine.  She is funny, witty and so lovable.  She has grown into the most beautiful woman and I hope that all her goals will be met.

I love Tiffeni more than strawberries and she loves me more than chocolate.  Have a very strawberry birthday today sweet TifferBug.

100 Year Old Evan….

This is what Evan will look like when she is 100.  She will have rollers in her hair, will be wearing glasses, wear a muumuu, have on knee hi stockings and finish her ensemble off with a pair of slippers.

Man alive she is one hot fashionista!!!!

My New Bike

I am all ready for the Curry children when they get moved into our subdivision tomorrow.  We are planning on riding to each others houses and then going on bike rides around the blocks.

I have had my eye on this bike for a long long time and today when we went to Wally World, there was only one left.  We debated on whether to get it now or wait, but then decided to get it as there were other people looking at the bikes.  This is a 24”  because my legs are so short that the 26” just would not work for this girl. 

I wanted a bike that had no frill and glamor, one with no gears and no hand brakes.  I really love this bike.  I can strap a basket on the back when we go riding and we can have a snack and some water when we get tired (that might be only a half a block for me).

We were walking 2+ miles every morning, but Dick’s leg is just to painful now so this is one way for me to get out and exercise more.  I am so anxious for those kids to get here.

Wish me luck and safe biking.  I almost crashed into a curb and a bush on my maiden voyage out today.  Plus not having been on a bike for years and years, I am a little shaky on it.

Latest Projects…

During the summer we were at Saver’s and found two mirrors.  I immediately knew what was going to be the home of one of them.  I have for the longest time needed a floor length mirror in my bedroom and this is what was going to be the purpose of the one mirror.

Dick painted the mirror and a small table that we had oregano (did I mention this is my newest favorite color) and then we glazed it in black.  This is what we now have hanging on the bedroom wall…

I think it looks classy with my bowl and pitcher my Mom made for me and the chair I inherited from Zella.

We also have finished a headboard bench this week.  It is painted Sweet Tea and glazed in black.  Again we were at Saver’s and found a small table (solid oak) that we thought would go perfect with the table.  Take a peek at our bench and table.  This one is for sale.

 

  

This bench and table will go in our booth on March 2nd at an event we will be in.  We will also have our jewel boxes, dresses and capes.

Happy Birthday Brea Cyan Curry….

On the evening of January 4, 2007 Heavenly Father sent this precious baby girl to our family.  She has brought us so much joy and is a blessing and true gift to us.

1. She is fun and has such an awesome personality
2. Brea loves to dance and wearing frilly long dresses
3. Brea really, really loves to watch Princess movies
4. She loves to go to school
5. She really likes her new bike and riding up and down the street
6. Brea likes to help others and she is a good big sister

Ending 2012 With A Loud BANG…..

Our 2012 year ended with a loud band, shattered glass and a few minutes of confusion.  What better way to say goodbye to the old and welcome to the new.  Sure hope 2013 is  better.

After the breaking of the glass and on the way home the driver of the car became so confused that he turned at the wrong road, ended up not knowing where he was (thank heavens I was in the passenger seat as the co-pilot directing him home) and was extremely flustered.  He kept repeating “I have been driving for years and this has never happened to me” .

Oh Well!!! that’s what you get for only looking in one mirror as you are backing into a parking stall while others are also backing up and there is a truck trailer sitting in part of the stall you are trying to back into.
