It has been a wild month of August around the Madsen home. We had Roy Days, Cache Co. Fair and Davis Co. Fair the first three week and was bushed after the last event. It was a wild and crazy three weeks.
School has started for the grandchildren and one has a broken wrist, one had surgery, the others are okay.
Derek and Kelly took the kids to Snowbird before school started and it proved to be a rough weekend. Kelly and Canyon were going down the Alpine Slide together and wrecked causing major burns to both of them.
This is when Canyon broke his left wrist but it was not discovered for two weeks later. Little Tike just has such a high pain tolerance that no one knew he had broken his wrist clean through. A cast was put on a couple of days after school started for him. Kelly got infection and had to be on an antibiotic and a topical cream.
Cody got sick just after he started school and ended up in the hospital for a appendectomy. He is out of football, which is the biggest sin of all for him. Oh Well!! at least they have a hospital real close to their house and it seems like the doctor was excellent.
Dick got an infected toe during Davis Co. Fair and had to go to the doctor. He is on an antibiotic and is waiting to get into the VA Hospital to be seen by the podiatrist. They did blood work and he is a diabetic with his A1C at 8.2. It did come down from 8.6 on the last test. I just wish that he would admit to having it and not blaming the doctor for his bad readings. How can the doctor make his glucose reading high? It is a mystery to me.
We had our toilet fiasco and then I have been canning like crazy trying to get the winter supply taken care of. So far I have done apricots, tomatoes, raspberry jam, corn and am finishing the raisins. I have been so lucky that all this came into my possession on my two weeks break. After Peach Days, then I will have peaches and apples to do. Canning sure is my passion.
We even had the time to go to watch Canyon play in his football game. He is so fun to watch and here he is with his favorite coach, his Dad.
It was a good month and now we are getting ready for our last event of the year, Peach Days. Oh how I love this event. It is so fun to be in your home town.
