What a week!!!

All last week Dick was ill with some bug or something, then on Friday I got it resulting in staying in bed for most of the weekend.  He developed a toothache and called to get an appointment but the earliest he could get in would be Monday.  Lots of pain prevailed over the weekend and both of us were not the most pleasant people to be around.
Well Monday finally arrived and he went to the dentist and walked out 1 hour 15 minutes later and $700.00 poorer as he had to have a root canal.  Off to Wally World we go to get the two prescriptions he would need to ward off infection and pain and another $50.00 bill.
Needless to say his fantastic insurance pays for NOTHING!!!

Rose

Gramps got this beautiful rose bush for his birthday from Canyon and Evan.  Canyon had his mom look at all the Home Depot's and Lowe's trying to find Grandpa's favorite rose bush, Mr. Lincoln.  After much determination they found one and just look at the beautiful roses that we are able to enjoy.  We have six more buds that will be opening soon.
Thanks little ones for finding this special rose bush for Gramps.

Rocks and Trucks!!!

See this ROCK.....

Imagine it wedged tightly between the bumper and the tire
(see the black marks on the tire and the rock)...

Thank heavens for four wheel drive to back up so the rock would drop to the ground and we could continue on with our adventures.   No!!! Dad was not four wheeling!!! he was just simply driving down a dirt road and did not see the rock until it was wedged in place.

Beauty in the Hills.....

We had a wonderful trip to Green River and here are some pictures to prove what a gorgeous masterpiece God created for me.......

Aren't I the most lucky person to live in an area where there is so much beauty to be found that was created for us by the hand of God!!!!

Cemeteries....

Cemeteries of our trips......
There is something about cemeteries that fascinate us and we try to visit old cemeteries during our travels.  We always go to see our passed family when we go to Ephriam and visit with them during our stay there.  It is a calm and peaceful place to go and just let memories fill our heart.  If you listen carefully you can even hear their voices talking to you and you can feel their spirits while there.
Our latest cemetery was in Green River, Utah and did it ever turn out to be a treat.  One of the first graves that we found was of the parents to LaRae Fullmer from Monticello where I grew up, next we came to the grave of an unknown person, but was fascinated by it's uniqueness (third picture). Just a simple headstone made of wood and weathered by the sun and wind, surrounded by a wire fence.  No glitz or glamour displayed at all.
There were family plots all cemented over to keep out the weeds and thistles that are so previlent in the area to a grave of a young man that was like a shrine to him.
Simplicity and beauty can be found in the back areas of America for those that are looking in the right directions.

2010 Season Comes To An End

It is that time of year when our food season comes to an end.  It has been a fun filled year and our trips have been fun and rewarding.  We began in Ephriam and ended with Green River with many places in between.
Here are a few of the familiar scenes that we seen along our way.

Thanks to Kelly, Canyon, Evan, Verdell, Wendy, Bethany, Michelle, Kelsee, Ta'Mera and Mandie for helping make this a fantastic year filled with memories.

Being Eight Is Great

September 4, 2010 was a very special day for our family as it was the day that Canyon Harrell Madsen chose to to baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He has patiently waited for this day to come.  What a handsome little boy he was all dressed in his white clothing.
His Dad, Derek Ray Madsen, was the priesthood holder that was the one to perform these ordinances for Canyon.  What a lucky boy he was for his Dad to be worthy to do this for him.
His Mom, Kelly Ann Madsen, has worked so hard to see that he has attended church and she has taught him well about the importance of being baptized and being a worthy member of the church.  What an awesome job she has done in teaching her children about Jesus.  Little Evan was so excited to see Canyon baptized and can hardly wait for her turn in three years.
Canyon had three grandmothers there.  Great Grandma Jacque, Grandma Kathy Madsen and Grandma Kathy Evans had joyful hearts on this beautiful day and are so proud of this grandson.  Oh how we love you little man.
Canyon also had his grandfathers there.  Great Grandpa Dale, Grandpa Chick Evans and Grandpa Richard Madsen were so proud of Canyon's decision to follow in the path of Jesus and be baptized by immersion.
Chick and Kathy flew in from Georgia to be with us on this happy occasion.
Here he is with his Madsen grandparents.  Sure love that boy.
Canyon, his parents and grandparents after the baptism.
Aunt Verdell and cousin Natalie....
and Auntie Wilma (she is 97) and Uncle Jim Call, Aunt Wendy, Uncle Carl, cousins Ashlei, Kameron and Mason all came to help us celebrate this happy day with Canyon and his family.
We are so proud of you Canyon and will always be there to hold your hand along the way as you follow in the ways of our Lord and Savior.
