Rainy, Rainy Times

This is the fourth event in June and at each one it has rained. Today was the worst rain ever and I know the kids are so tired of being wet and cold. They are such good sports and just plug along with what is dished out by Mother Nature. Thank heavens we have a tent with sides to get in out of the weather.

Logan Summerfest

Logan Summerfest is held on the Historic Logan Tabernacle grounds. The setting is just beautiful. There is lots of memorabilia of early pioneers around, but there is also a very reverent feeling there also. It was a fun event, even though Saturday was real raining and cool.
Here are a few random pix of our event.

New Banner Signs

Before Kelly left for Georgia (boo hoo, I sure miss her), she ordered these new signs for our booth. They are so neat and fun to use. With them being individual signs, we are able to put up just the foods that we are selling at the event and not having to block out the foods like last year. I love the colors that were chosen for the foods and the black background makes the signs look so stunning.
Thanks Kelly, for having the signs made for us.

New Blood Pressure Machine

Meghan picked up Grandpa's digital tire gauge last night and wanted to know if it was a new blood pressure machine. Of course I told her yes. She wanted to know how it worked so I told her to put it in her ear and it would measure how much pressure was in her ear.
She is so gullible that she put it in her ear and waited a few seconds, pulled it out and said "it doesn't say anything, Grandma". I told her it would tell her what her pressure was if she just waited a little while longer. So once again in goes the tire gauge into her ear and she waited and waited and nothing happened. So she blew into the tip to see if it was broken. Still no reading. Finally I told her it was the tire gauge that Gramps uses to check the air pressure in the tires.
She is so funny and I thought I was going to burst trying not to laugh at her.

Happy Father's Day...

I know that I am a day late in posting my thoughts for Father's Day. We had company and it was hard to formulate my thoughts yesterday.
First I want to wish Dick the best Father's Day ever. I know that he had a good day as Brook and Derek called to talk with him and Danielle and Wendy were here to see him and spend some time with him. Wendy, Meghan and I fixed him a delicious meal that was enjoyed by all. He got some really nice gifts that he has been wanting so that made him happy.

These are a few things I love about him:

  • I love the way he acts with the grandchildren and how he beams when they are around. His greatest fun is when he is teasing them and they tease back.
  • I love that he is a great father and cares deeply about his children. He is proud of the good men and women that they have grown up to be. He takes great pride in their accomplishments and is the first to brag about them when around others.
  • I love how he can take a piece of wood and makes the neatest cars and truck. What fun the grandchildren have when they come and they get to go out to the shop with Gramps and make their own cars. I love the excitement on their faces when they come in with their new treasure to take home.
  • I love how he likes to have our yard look beautiful and each year helps me plant all the flowers in the flower beds.
  • I love how he lets me know that I am his best friend and that he does not even like to go to the store unless I am with him.
  • I love his hugs and how that makes me feel safe and secure.
  • I love how he supports me in my ideas and how he helps me follow through with my plans.
  • I love his smile and his laugh. It is like music to my ears when he laughs with me even though sometimes I am laughing so hard I can't breath.
  • I love how thoughtful he is of my needs and wants.
  • I love him more and more each day and am glad that eternity is in our future together.

I can't let the moment go by without being thankful for other men in my life. I have a wonder father that taught me well. He gave to each child a strong sense of belonging and we knew that he loved us dearly. I love my father very much and am so thankful for his love in return. He is a great man and I am proud to be his daughter.

My sons are precious to me and I want them to know how proud that I am of the father's they are. Each one is so good and sweet with their children and they feel so safe and secure in their presence. I am a very lucky woman to have wonder sons in my life.

My grandfathers were strong and noble men. Men that we true to their beliefs and stalwart in the gospel. They were great men in the community and gave of their time to others. They gave me an awesome heritage that I am extremely proud of.

To all the men in my life, I do wish you the greatest Father's Day ever!!!

My Day!!!

(This is my favorite gag gift from Dick. He
did not think I would wear it but I wore it
until the outfit was thread worn.)

Since my birthday is on June 9th, I can write anything about myself that I want. Being that this is the last night of my 58th year, I wanted to reflect on some of my most precious blessings in my life.
I have been blessed with:
  1. A very kind and loving husband who sees that my needs are met and he is my very best friend. He sees that I feel secure and loved at all times. He makes my life complete.
  2. Children that I love with all my heart. Three grew underneath my heart and four that grew within my heart. I always wanted a big family but medical problems only allowed three babies for me to carry. I am thankful that four more were added with my marriage to Richard.
  3. My greatest gifts are my grandchildren. I have been blessed with 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. My love for my grandchildren is very deep and strong. I miss my babies so much when they are not around me.
  4. I have wonderful parents that taught me the joys of life. Memories fill my mind of the fun times we had as a family. They taught me strong values that have made me the woman that I am today. Many, many years ago I vowed that I would grow up to be the kind of woman that my mother and grandmother were and I do think that I am getting closer to that vow.
  5. My siblings are most important to me and I love them dearly. Each one holds a part of my heart and I would do anything for them. I have truly been blessed with their love and support.
  6. My grandparents have given me a great heritage and strong values. My ancestry comes from good hard working and strong people. People that joined the Church and served the Lord with all their might and strength. They never waivered when asked to do their part in building the kingdom of God.
  7. Friends have played an important role in my life. I have lived in many states and have left valuable friends behind in each move. Some I have kept in touch with and others are a constant in my mind.
  8. My testimony is a gift from my Father in Heaven and it does grow stronger each day as I strive to live the gospel principles. I love the gospel and its teachings. It is a constant guide for me to live by.
  9. I am thankful for my calling in the extraction program and the way that I am able to read the names and extract the information that is required.
  10. I am thankful for a prophet that leads our Church in righteousness. A man that is called by God and is directed by His hand.
  11. My home is a blessing to our family. Within its walls love radiates and everyone feels the security of family. No matter where my children or grandchildren are, they do love to come home to visit. Each one knows that this home is theirs also. My greatest times are when there are grandchildren pitter pattering around and their laughter fills the air.
  12. My business is very successful and it is something that I enjoy doing very much. I am very busy, but am doing what I want to at this point in my life. Each event takes us to different places where we meet the neatest people. Nothing is as fun as seeing the smiles on the faces of little children as they receive their treats. Oh, children are so darn cute!!
  13. My neighbors are the greatest and are there when ever I need them. I know that if something was wrong, I could cross the street and the McNeely's would be right here to help. We were blessed when we found this house, in this neighborhood and in this town.
  14. We prayed to find a home in Brigham City and have never regretted moving here. The small town feeling is something that I have really missed since leaving La Sal many years ago.
  15. Today I can't let my thoughts end without being thankful for Zella. She came into my life 33 years ago on June 9, 1976, when Richard took me to meet his parents after our second date. She made me feel so part of the family and took me under her wings as a little mother hen protecting her own. My love for her grew and grew and I do miss her so much. She taught me many things and I have been able to incorporate some of her traditions into my own family. I know that she is happy beyond the veil, but my heart is empty without her presence with me. I love and miss you Zella. Thanks for playing such an important role in my life and family.

There we have it, a partial list of the things that mean the most to me today. Thanks everyone for being a part of my life and making everyday special. I love you all very much and pray that we will always be close and our love will grow stronger with each passing day.

Happy Birthday Derek....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEREK!!!

Today as I reflect upon your life thus far, so many memories come to mind. My thoughts went back to the day you were born and how thrilled my heart was to have given birth to a beautiful baby boy.
As I prayed to my Father in Heaven, shortly after your birth, I remember thanking Him for sending me a healthy baby and promised that I would take care of and protect you with all my might. I also promised that I would raise you in a loving and happy home and teach you spiritually so you in turn would know the joy that comes in service to your Father in Heaven.
You have been such a joy in my life and I thrill with all the accomplishments that have been yours. You have been a great blessing in our lives right from the very beginning and still continue to be one.
Sports have always played an important part of your life and started very early with a love for horses, football and wrestling.

Your favorite place to be was with Grandpa and Grandma and you were with them every chance you got. They would take you for rides in the mountains and you would sit on the horse with Grandma. When you became tired, you would lay your little head against Grandma and take a nap. Oh how they love their boy.

You have been the best son that any parents could ever wish for. I thank my Father in Heaven for giving me the chance to raise such a strong spirit, one that is true to the teaching of the gospel and one that teaches his own children true principles. I am so thankful that you chose me to be your mother all those years ago when still in heaven and came into my life when I needed you so much.
Thanks for giving me two very precious grandchildren and a daughter so sweet and dear, but most of all thanks for just being my son. I love you dearly.
Happy Birthday today and may it be as special as you are.
Love you always and forever!!!!
