Christmas

I have a new computer and have not downloaded the pictures from my camera to it yet so there will not be any pictures for a while.
We had a wonderful Christmas this year and lots of neat gifts graced our home. Each one is greatly appreciated and our deepest thanks goes out to all of you. Formal thank you's will be coming in the mail shortly.
Yesterday and Monday was the painting day for the living room. Derek and Kelly came and shooed us out the door with the little ones and then painted. We were called about 1:00 yesterday and told that we could come home. The colors are gorgeous and I do love the living room rearranged.
It makes me want to paint all the other rooms now. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful making the other walls look dingy gray (I hate, hate the gray).
I hope that all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa was good to all of you.
Check back to see the finished livingroom. I am so excited to show off my new colored walls.

Friendly Ghost!!!

Evan and Kelly were visiting today helping Grammy make emblems and superhero capes for our booth at Quilted Bear and for the last boutique fair of the year (yeah!!). Kelly and I were upstairs sewing when I heard a noise coming up the stairs. Here is the conversation between
Grammy and the Ghost.
Gram: Oh no, I hear a noise. Who is coming up my stairs
Ghost: Ooooo
Gram: I think I am getting scared
Ghost: Guunma, are you afraid of ghosts
Gram: Not if they are friendly. Do you know any friendly ghosts?
Ghost: The Holy Ghost

Now I was waiting for an answer like Casper.

This is the best picture that I have of you as you will not let me snap the camera when you are in the view finder.
Just wanted to take time this day to thank you for choosing our family to be apart of. You are so wonderful to our daughter and I do know that she is extremely happy to have you as a husband. You have been a wonderful father to our grandchildren and that probably has not been the easiest of tasks in itself.
Thanks for all that you do for us and for letting us be part of your family. We love you so very much and thank our Father in Heaven for letting us be part of your family.
Hope that your day is as special as you are.

Winter Snow

It is snowing today and we have to go to
Farmington to tear down our booth.
Since it is cold and snowy outside, I made chicken soup
with big chunks of chicken and large cut vegetables
and made hot rolls to go with it.
Yummy!!!

Evan Makell is 4...

Can you believe that you have gone from this little tiny baby.......
to this big girl!!!!

This was such a happy day for our family when you finally came from heaven to live with your earthly family. We were so excited to finally have you here. I loved you way before you were born and have always called you "Heavenly Evan" because you are my gift from heaven. I have always felt that your Great, Great Grandma Harvey brought you to us on that 9th day of November, 2005. Before you were born, Mommy and Daddy could not come up with a name, so we started calling you Missy Muffet but now we call you Evan, Evie or Missy.
This is the day you came home from the hospital.
Your family lived with us until their home in Clinton was finished being built. Every night you and I would sleep in the recliner until it was time for everyone to go to bed. When you were one month old, your family moved into your new home. That first night was rough on both of us as I had no baby to rock and cuddle and you did not have this grammy to cuddle with either. What a sad day for both of us.
Canyon was so proud to have a baby and would play with you very gently. Once you got older and would get into his toys, he was not to sure that having a baby to mess his toys up was the best thing. He loved to play with your little feet and make you laugh.
When you were two months old, Canyon got very sick and it was best that you came to stay with Grammy and Gramps so you wouldn't get RSV. You got to stay for 10 days with us and I had the time of my life playing and taking care of you. You sure have stolen my heart little Missy Muffet.
Here are some of our favorite pictures of you:
Grammy's little Easter Angel
My little Amish Baby
Flower Baby
Grandma and her little angels on their blessing day
You remind me of Grandma Harvey. I had a picture of her
in her blessing dress sitting just like this.
Your blessing dress and cape that I made for you
You have always been so fun to sew for
I love you little princess girl

After a day of being blessed and visiting with my family that
came for the blessing there is no place better than falling
asleep in my grandpa's arms.
You and grandpa are best friends and everytime you would come when you were little you wanted to watch the Barbie video. You would be so content sitting on his lap watching that dumb Barbie World video. When it was over you would say "gin papa gin".
This is one of my most favorite photos of you. This is the day we learned that you loved watermelon. You ate so much that the juice was running down your arms, belly and face. When you were done we had to give you a bath in the sink to get all the sticky juice off you body.
One day we were at an event and you got to build a bird house. Daddy and you make the birdhouse then took it home to paint. After it was painted you helped Daddy nail it to a post and plant it in the garden. You and gramps make cars in the shop for you to take home to play with. You and gramps are good car makers aren't you.
Gramps made you a stroller and you love it so much. One day he told you he was going to put a tag on it and sell it. You looked at him and said "you can't sell my stroller cause it is my favorite". You love to take your babies for rides all over the house when you come to visit.
This spring you and your family went to California on vacation and took Flat Grandpa and Grandma with you. This was such a fun trip and we got to see Sea World, pretty flowers and strawberry fields. Thanks for taking us with you. When you got back you told me I couldn't go on anymore trips cause you ripped flat grandma in pieces. That was sad cause I wanted to go to Disneyland with you also. But being ripped in pieces I had to go to the trash. That makes me sad!!

My precious Heavenly Evan, I love you so very much and thank Heaven Father daily for letting you be part of our family. You and I create so many memories like playing on the swing, making you laugh so hard that I am afraid you might fall out the swing, playing in the sand, playing at the park, shopping, baking cookies or bread, working in the sewing room but my favorite thing of all is your sweet hugs and kisses. I love having sleepovers and sleeping on the couch with you. You are one very special little girl that has stolen my heart. I hope that you have a wonderful birthday.
I love you my favorite four year old little girl in the whole wide world!!!!

Halloween Is Over...

We had to make a mad dash to Logan yesterday and main street was a blast. All the business' for two blocks were giving out treats to all the little trick or treaters. Both sides of the street was loaded with all kinds of little scarry creatures. What a joy it was to see their happy faces and so excited with their hordes of candy they got.
We came home and waited, and waited, and waited. Thought Katie would bring Ethan and Adia over, but no. We waited and waited some more still no one came.
I fell asleep in my chair when finally the doorbell rang waking both Dick and I. Oh Boy!! some little ghosties at the door. There were three little ones wanting treats.
Then we waited and waited and waited and waited then again the door bell rang. I run to the door and there are three more little ones wanting treats.
Then we waited and waited and waited and waited then finally it was time to change back the clocks and go to bed so we could awake early to attend our church meetings.
I don't know why I even prepare for trick or treaters anymore. This year we had a whooping six kids come to our home. Not even the neighbor kids came.
The only good thing about Halloween was getting to sleep in an hour longer this morning.
Yeah for "Fall Back" time.

Happy Halloween!!

I hope that all the little ghosts, goblins and witches out there are having a Boo-tiful day.
May you ride your brooms high and in style.
Fly through the sky with great delight.
Visit those homes that are safe.
Have an awesome evening collecting all types of goodies and treats but don't try to eat them all tonight and get a bellyache.
Sending my love to all those cute little creatures out there in my life. I love you little ones!!!

Excitement all over town..

Today it was announced that our new temple will be built on the vacant block that is two blocks from our home. We will get to see the temple from our windows. I can walk there everyday if my heart desires and will be able to do sessions anytime that the urge is there.
What a wonderful event this is for our town. There is an aurora surrounding our little bit of heaven on earth that can't be explained.
When we purchased our home 2 1/2 years ago, no one would have guessed that we would be living this close to a temple. What a marvelous blessing we have been given.
My heart is pounding with joy and wish the ground breaking would hurry and happen. I know, I have to be patient as good things come to those that wait.

A Wonderful Day...

Today Kelly, Canyon and Evan came to visit. We enjoyed having them with us and sharing a meal with them. We pick some walnuts then came back to a spaghetti casserole that was piping hot and ready to eat.
The little ones sure like to come to Grandpa and Grandma's house and it is hard for them to leave. They get "spoiled rotten" while here and also know that they get everything they want. Our motto is:
"spoiled rotten then sent home to parents".

Bandanna Dress....

This adorable dress is made like the pillowcase dresses, but using two bandannas instead of fabric. Kelly sent me a website with this dress on it and it was just to tempting to try.
Yes, Kell, it really does take only 15 minutes to make. Way to go girl on finding a faster way of making the dresses.

Spiritually Fed

Conference is over and I have been spirituall fed. I have renewed my commitments to serve the Lord and others and to follow all the teachings and counsel of our Prophet and leaders.
Every conference is better than the last one, but this one is more meaningful due to the announcement of the new temple to be built in Brigham City.

Brigham's New Temple

I am so EXCITED!!! Today it was announced that a new temple will be built in Brigham City. My Mom called me after the first session to tell me the news. I missed the first 8 minutes of conference and got in on the Florida and Japan temples. Imagine my surprise when she told me.
I kept thinking I was just dreaming, but it was on the news also. Yeah for us that live here. Wouldn't it be neat if it was built on the vacant block across the street from the tabernacle. I would be able to see the spires from my windows and be able to walk to do sessions.
Yes, I am one excited Brighamite right now.

Our Wild & Wooly Weekend

Well as promised here is an accounting of our weekend from kitchen fires to up and personal with Brigham City's finest law officers. Wendy gave me permission to use her blog as it was so eloquently written. She gladly accepted to be my guest writer today.
(I thought I could just copy & paste her blog entry to mine, but that was not that easy. The text will do that, but the pictures had to be saved to another file then added to the blog. What was suppose to be so simple turned into a hard project and an hour of aggravation. Only one correction needs to be noted. The Indian children were in school in Brigham City from the early 1950's to 1984). Thanks Wendy for being my guest writer!!!!

What happens in Brigham City....

We went to Brigham City this weekend. We spent the weekend with Dad and Kathy, Derek and Kelly and their kids Canyon and Evan. The weekend started out great and ended on a very interesting note. We got to Brigham City Friday evening and just hung out and talked. Saturday we got the cornhole game out and had a great time playing cornhole with everybody.

We had a good time and then had navajo tacos for dinner. That was an adventure in itself. While making the flat bread for the tacos Kelly got the plate with the paper towels on it a bit too close to the flame and before you know it it had caught on fire and Kelly's attempt to put it out with tongs didn't work and Kathy's attempt with a pot holder didn't work. Derek came in and grabbed the plate and put it in the sink which did work. Then there was a slight grease fire and except for the black smudge on the wall behind the stove there was no lasting signs from the not one but two fires that were started. Later that night we learned a new game called farkle - pretty fun - even better when you win (sorry Kathy).
Sunday started out with funnel cakes and talk about going to the check out the old Indian School buildings. Just a little history- I guess back in the 60's and 70's (if I am wrong let me know and I will edit this part) several thousand indian children were sent to Brigham City for the school year . The kids were ages 6- 18 and were housed in these buildings.
We decided to stop and take some pictures of the outside of the building.
Then we found an open door so we went in to explore. Here are some pics of the inside of the building.
The open door - the one that started all our problems that were soon to follow. But doesn't Evan look so cute!
Looking down the hallway.
Creepy doll that was shoved into the wall. The view from one of the windows.
Not too long after this picture was taken I realized that I had left my keys in our van that we had left unlocked so Carl went to go lock up the van and retrieve my keys. Kelly, Kathy and Evan had gone back outside and were waiting for us when - with lights flashing- two cop cars came around the corner and stopped. My phone rang and it was Kathy telling us we needed to get out of the building because the cops were there (I had a fleeting thought about jumping out of the window and making a run for it but decided that wasn't a very good thing to do in front of my boys probably wouldn't have been too nice to let them take the fall for me either) so when we came out the cops had taken Carls license and called in all his info (he does look a little like a thug:) and Kathy's (we all know she was the ringleader of our little gang) and then he proceeded to tell us that because they have a lot of trouble with people breaking into the buildings that protocol was to take everyone 18 and older directly to jail. Not a good thing to hear especially when you have 4 kids standing there and no one close by who could have come to get them while we were being hauled off to the slammer. Luckily he said that he knew we were just curious about the buildings he would let us go with the warning to never again go past the curbs and approach the building which we all readily agreed to. So here is a picture of all of us with the cop in our first trespassing bust. We all know though that it was these sweet little faces that kept our gang out of the slammer!! So I would have to say what happens in Brigham City should Stay in Brigham City!

Week end adventure

Anyone that has access to Wendy's blog can read about our great adventure over the weekend. I will be posting about it when I can formulate the correct words to describe our run in with the Brigham City law enforcement and our near adventure to the "Brigham City Slammer".

Happy Birthday Elton!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELTON

We first met you when Brook brought you home for Thanksgiving and we immediately took a strong liking to you. We could see that you really cared about Brook and her well being and also that you loved her deeply. This meant tons to her parents that worried about her all the time but lived to far away to see her all the time. A lot happened in the first year of knowing you. A daughter was born to you and Brook and how excited we were to have another little granddaughter to spoil rotten. What an joy it was when you brought her to Utah to be blessed.
You and Brook got married and it was an honor to get to go to Denver and be part of this happy celebration with you, Brook and your family. We truly had a wonderful time getting to know your family and spending some time with our grandchildren.
I loved having you come for Christmas in Brigham City. It was so fun to have you and your family with us for this special time of the year.
Before your first year anniversary another little Curry came to our family. I got to come to Denver again to meet this little feller and spend a few days there. Once again the stork made a special delivery at your home and once again the plane took me to Denver. I enjoyed everyday of the three weeks that I got to spend there helping with the new baby and with the little munchkins.
Can you believe that all this happened before you were married two years!!

Thanks for being a wonderful son in law that I love dearly. You hold a very special place in my heart and I find great joy in having you in our family. Thanks for giving us three new little ones to love and spoil. I am thankful that you are a great husband and father and that you put your family's needs first.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
