Finished Bench

We were not happy with the look of the bench so…….the hubby took his palm sander and started distressing spots more so the yellow showed through the blue.  LOVE IT!!! that is the look I was envisioning for my bench.

Next he mixed up some black glaze and painted it on.  We let it set for several minutes then SOFTLY….first try I wiped it all off (big mistake)…got the hang of it real quickly.

After it was all wiped down I went back and lightly buffed areas that were too dark for what I wanted.

Now I LOVE this bench and can hardly wait to get it into my living room.

Happy Birthday, Angel Girl....

Today is Kalista's 11th birthday.  She is a very special angel in our family and I love her very much.  My heart is so full today as she celebrated with her family and got to do all the fun things that are done at birthday parties.
She is growing up and wanting to do the girlie things like wearing lip gloss and polish on her fingers and toes. Kalista is adorable and full of love for those that are close to her.  I love this girl as much as I love her mother.
I am so lucky that Miss Kalista is part of my life and my family.  Thanks Heavenly Father for sending this precious Angel to us.  Please pour out many blessing upon her this year and let her feel your presence with her always.
Happy birthday, sweet angel girl.

Easter Dress

DSCN3892DSCN3893

This is my little creation I made today for Evan.  Won’t she look so cute in her peasant style dress on Easter Sunday.  I can hardly wait to see her in it.

I have been wanting to make a peasant dress for a long time and finally got my ducks in a row today and did it.  It looks like it will be cool for her this summer when they move to Japan.

“Who is My Neighbour?”

                                Christ with Children

Our Sunday School lesson today was on the subject of  “Who Is My Neighbour”.  This class today made me stop and think of how I am really portraying myself to my fellowman.  Am I a snobby person that makes my neighbour not want to get to know me or am I like the scripture found in Matthew 18:4 in where we are told that we are to be humble like a little child.

During our discussion a list of childlike qualities were given, such as honest, always forgiving, teachable, humble, has a lot of faith, loves everyone, does not judge etc.  We need to develop these childlike qualities in order to enter into the kingdom of heaven. The desires of my heart are to develop more childlike qualities, to be more forgiving as a child and to be more teachable.

Another set of verses that we discussed was Matthew 18:21-22, in where Peter asks Jesus “… how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?”  In verse 22 Jesus answers Peter “…I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but,Until seventy times seven.”

How often are we offended by others and we let harsh feelings build up cankering our souls?  This is one of my bad characteristic that I am working on to dissolve from my life.  When we hold grudges against our family members or fellowmen, it is like a cancer that grows and grows and will destroy our lives.  I want more love and harmony in my life than what has been there is the past.  I want peace within my heart toward those that have transgressed against me.  I want to invite the spirit of the Lord to dwell within my heart and soul and I can only do this if I am truly forgiving to the transgressor.

Forgiveness is a tool that needs to be developed by each of us.  How many little children squabble with their playmates, hurting their feelings and making them so angry, but in a few minutes that anger is gone, forgiveness was rendered and the offense was  forgotten.  They go about their “Father’s business” of  forgiving seventy times seven.  We need to be more like children and become more forgiving and loving.    It does not please our Father in Heaven when we" “…from our hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” (Matthew 18:35)

Pretty Dresses…..

Today I finished some cute dresses for Brea and Payton, two of my granddaughters.  They are sisters and will look so very cute in their matching dresses.

Danielle gave me some left over fabric from a dress that was made for Tiffeni and I had the plaid that matched perfectly.

Oh, how I love making dresses for the little girls in my life.  It is a treat when I get to see them wear the things that I make for them.

Have fun my little girls wearing your new knot dresses.  They will be nice and cool this summer in the hot Phoenix sun.

Shelf...

Canyon made this awesome shelf at Cub Scouts.
He send me a picture of it so we could put it on our
blog.  I think he is getting as talented as his Gramps
in the woodworking.
Way to go boy!!!

Repost - Evan's Quilt

Evan took her quilt home last night.
Look how cute it is on her bed.
She called me and said she was sending a picture from Daddy's
phone so I could put it on my blog for "the people to see."
I think she likes her quilt.

Evan’s Sunbonnet Sue’s Garden…

I finished quilting Evan’s quilt on Saturday and got the binding done this morning.  I am so pleased with how it turned out. Evan picked out this pattern and has been anxiously waiting for it to get finished.

I know that Evan will be thrilled with her quilt from Grandma.  She will always have her Sunbonnet Sue to remind her just how much Grandma loves her.  When she gets to Japan and when times are hard and she misses me, she can just wrap up real tight and feel all the love that I have for her.  I will always be with her when she needs me..

I love how the center turned out with all the little squares that I quilted.  Just makes her stand out from the quilt.DSCN3870

The back of a quilt is just as interesting to me as the front.  I love all the stitches of love that goes into a quilt.DSCN3875

I finished the quilt with the lime green that is the same as the green squares in the quilt.  Must say it really finished it off nicely.  I stitched the binding with a fancy stitch that looks like swirling leaves.

My sweet girl, enjoy your quilt and may you always feel the love that Grandma has for you.  Love you tons my sweet little one!!!

Where the van is parked is where Louise decided to take a trip down road lane.  Don’t know what happened but the last I seen her she was in the back of the truck and when I came back Danielle and Dick were picking her up off the road.  After a bonked head, a scratched knee and a bummed big toe, the moving came to a halt and she stayed at the house putting things away on the next trip. That was the only mishap of the day.DSCN3865

I did not get a picture of Danielle’s sewing room as it is HUGE and the envy of any woman that quilts or sews. It also has a fireplace in it.

I love their house and all the storage that is in it.  There are four bathrooms, three bedrooms, a basement, a laundry room and an elevator.  There are so many closets and hidden coves that one could really have a fun time playing hide n seek.  One night Cody threw a mattress in one of the closets and had himself a nice bedroom.

They sure are lucky to have found this home and to have it as big as it is.
