Aunt Mary

Aunt Mary

Today my thoughts are of my Aunt Mary and the love that I have for her.  She is my mother’s younger sister and she has helped me in so many ways.

Aunt Mary has never been judging about others and always has held her arms open wide to put around you when you needed them.  She would laugh with you or cry with you, depending upon the situation.

As a child, she would take me for a couple weeks during the summer to stay with them.  I enjoyed being in her company and learning different things from her.  Her laughter could be heard all the time.  There was never a dull moment when she was around.  Aunt Mary was never a woman that raised her voice to anyone.  She was always so soft spoken and had loving words for everyone.

This past week Aunt Mary fell and received a nasty blow to her head.  She was life flighted to University Hospital in Salt Lake where she had surgery.  Her sweet family has some very tough decisions to make in the coming days as she struggles to wake up.  My heart aches for them and for her.

Today some of us are gathering by her bedside, for what will probably be our last goodbyes to her.  This is a woman that has lived a very good spiritual life and is well prepared to meet the Savior as she returns back to her heavenly home.

Aunt Mary, I love you dearly and thank my Father in Heaven for your sweet spirit.  Somehow your spirit found its way in finding me and helped direct me in wanting more righteous desires in my heart.  You are truly one of God’s most chosen Angels.

Dad’s 80th Birthday Party…

DSCN4478

Saturday, February 18th we all gathered in La Sal for an early celebration for Dad’s 80th birthday.  It was so fun to see family and friends that have not been seen for many years.

We had a luncheon for the family in the early afternoon and then in the evening there was the open house for the community to come and give well wishes to this fine gentleman.

There are lots of pictures and picking just the favorites would not be easy so bear with me as I share this day with you.

This was such an enjoyable time spent honoring my father and remembering good times with him.  I love my father very much and cherish my time spent with him as I was growing up.  He taught us many things, which are exemplified through his children.

Dad was born 12:10 am on  February 29, 1932 and his mother cried and cried because her baby boy would not have a birthday every year.  The kind doctor changed the time to 11:10 pm on February 28th to easy my grandmother’s anxiety. So every year we celebrate on the 28th, but on leap year we have two birthdays for Dad.  One is on the 28th and the second one is held on the 29th.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD.

Dad’s Quilt

DSCN4428

This is the quilt I made for Dad’s 80th birthday.  I had this picture of Dad roping in Mesquite, NV and had it screen printed onto the white fabric for the center of the quilt.  My Dad loves the color blue, so of course that is the color that the quilt had to be.  This is my first quilt that I used the sewing machine to do the actual quilting.  I am very pleased with the outcome.

I love the diamonds in the center, and then I just hand quilted around the horse and steer.

Look at the dust around Black’s feet as he does his stuff for Dad.  He sure was a good friend and had an undying love for Dad.

This is my cute little Dad with his quilt after his party.  Isn’t he just the cutest little feller.  I love you so much Dad.  Enjoy riding in your dreams with Black again as you take your afternoon siesta.

The New Do…

Today Meghan took her state practical test for her cosmetology license and PASSED.  We are so proud of her and the hard work that she has put into her schooling over the last two years (minus a few months).

Evan waited all day for Meghan to cut her hair, but we had to wait for Mommy to get here before it could be cut.  Finally the big moment came and here are the pictures of this happy event for Evan.  Notice the smiles that she has…totally enjoying every minute.

Thanks Meghan for cutting Evan’s hair.   She looks so different, I hope that I can recognize her tomorrow when we leave to go to Grandpa Dale’s Birthday party.
