Evie’s New Dresses

Today Evan got her package in the mail and sent me pictures of what was in it.  She looks so cute in her new dresses from Grandma.  Look how sparkly her eyes are and how happy her face is.

This first dress is the one that her doll also got a new dress to match.  That made the doll so happy and Evie really liked her dress and her doll dress.

This dress made me think of a smiling sunbeam so I found a button that had a smiling sunray on it.  She is so stinkin cute in these dresses.

I love you my precious little girl and sure do miss your sweet kisses and hugs.  You have a good night and don’t let that wind come and blow you away.  Oh, maybe the wind would blow you to Grandma’s house.  I would like that.

This is the cute little dress that I made for Evan and also one for her doll.  I am pretty anxious for her to get it.  I do love making these dresses for the little girls.  To bad Payton hates dresses, but she does not want a dress….no way, no how..only snow pants (capri pants).

Tae Kwon Do Master

“Evan participated in her first Tae Kwon Do tournament this morning competing in forms and chabara (sword fighting) and took first place in both events! Great job Evie!” as told by her mother.

We are so proud of you our Evie girl.  You are a rompem’, stompem” girl.  Love you little one.

Miss Brea’s New School Dresses

DSCN4896

Today I made Brea a new dress for school.  She only wants to wear dresses so this grammy has been busy trying to get her some new clothes made.  I have tons of fabric to work with so she can have all she wants.

This dress is made using a t shirt I bought on sale at Wal Mart for $2.50.  I made an underskirt and then sewed ruffles to the underskirt using colors that were in the shirt.

This dress is so full!!!! the bottom ruffle is over 200 inches long.  Thought I would never get finished putting that sucker together and sewn on to the middle ruffle.  This will probably be her most favorite as it will twirl the biggest circle.  What a girl we have here.

I made this skirt for her last week….

and she absolutely loves this dress (also made from a t shirt) and wants to wear it everyday.  The skirt is real full and she loves to dance and twirl and see how far the skirt will go out.   It has been fun sewing for her as she loves each new dress that I make.

Christmas Candle Mat

I finished by Christmas candle mat this morning.   It will be exciting to have it as part of my decorations this year.  The pattern I used for the quilting is called orange peel.  My segments on the quilt block were the 2 inches that I needed to accomplish the effect that I was hoping for….and it worked.

I am intrigued with the back and can hardly wait to get the other two pieces done to complete the set.  There will be a table runner (you can see part of it on the pillow) and this throw.

The block for the candle mat is called Cheerio and the quilt and table runner are a combination of the Cheerio and the Northern Lights.  You can easily see the Cheerio blocks, but the Northern Lights blocks are hard to make out.  They are part of the burgundy lines.

This project started out to be a queen sized quilt….after 10 years of being in the sewing basket and not finished, I had to change my course of action.  Not all fabrics are in stock for that long and I had not purchased enough of the printed fabric.  I think this will be better for me in the long run.  This just gives me a very good excuse to make a quilt for me now.

God’s Miracle: Telaai Milene Wiberg

A Child of Mine
Telaai Wiberg
I'll lend you for a little while
A child of mine, God said
For you to love the while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead
It may be six or seven years,
Or forty-two or three
But will you, till I call her back
Take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And - should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
As a solace for your grief
I cannot promise she will stay
For all from earth returns
But there are lessons taught below
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the whole world over
In my search for teachers true
And from all beings that crowd life's land
I have chosen you
Now, will you give her all your love
Nor think the labor vain.
Nor hate me when I come to take
This lent child back again
I fancied that I heard you say
"Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joys Thy child will bring
The risk of grief we'll run
We will shelter her with tenderness
We'll love her while we may -
And for the happiness we have now know
Forever grateful stay."
But should the angels come for her
Much sooner than we'd planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.

My heart is so filled with sorrow for the family of this precious baby Angel.  She was born on Aug 2nd and immediately had complications.  It was diagnosed that she had SMA…a muscular disease that prevents muscles to function.  Telaai had a severe level and had no hope of surviving.  Her family spent every hour with her until she left for her heavenly home 10 days later.
I found this blog and facebook info on a blog that I follow and was so taken in my the strength of this outstanding family and how they were so willing to share this ordeal with the outside world.  My testimony has been strengthened by their examples of love.  They are truly a faith building family and one can feel their closeness to our Savior.  You can read about her journey here
May the Lord bless this family and may they feel his comforting arms about them as they prepare to lay their precious daughter to rest this week.  May they feel His arms about them in the weeks, months and years as they wait to meet their precious daughter once again.

Happy Birthday, Canyon

Canyon 10

Today Canyon Harrell Madsen is 10 years old.  He is such a sweet little man and has brought extreme joy to my life.  I adore him and want nothing but goodness to fill his days.

Canyon waited a long time in heaven before he came to our family.  He was waiting for the precise moment to make his debut into this world and he chose August 1, 2002 as his special day.

We made tons of memories and had tons of good times while we lived close to each other in Utah.  Our memory banks are full and we reach into them daily as we miss this boy more than words can tell.

We hope your day is full of fun.  May all your wishes, dreams and needs are met this year and your knowledge increase ten fold.

We love you big boy!!!! and are so thankful that you chose us to be your grandparents.  You are one very special boy.  Have a super fantastic day, our favorite 10 year old boy in the entire world.
