And The Winner IS!!!!!

After much deliberation on the matter of which commode would best fit into our life style, this beauty won butts down.

It was the last one we purchased from Lowe’s last night. It is made by Jacuzzi (like whirlpool tub) and  features great qualities such as chair height (a must), a five star flush rating (WHAT is a five star flush! Shouldn’t every toilet just flush and get the job done! Maybe it is the whirlpool flush that is rated) and it is rounded to fit into my small bathroom… no elongated bowls for me.  Dick has the elongated one in his bathroom and when I sit on it, my legs dangle like a little kid.

Well here it is all installed……

Yeap, this was a good fit!!!

Toilet UPDATE!!!!

Well, I am now the proud owner of four toilets for one bathroom.

1)  The old one that has a crack in the tank and was leaking

2) The new one that got broken before being installed

3) The one Dick ran to Home Depot for to replace the new/broken one and it was a standard height YUCK!!

4) The new one that we just got at Lowe’s  and it is the chair height YEAH!!

One is outside, one in the kitchen, one in the living room and one in the van.  Yes, we do have problems at the Madsen home and we need lots and lots of toilets.

I think I will try each one out and see which one fits the butt the best and take the other one back.  Maybe a week for each one to make sure we are getting the best fit

I wonder what adventures will happen tomorrow.  One toilet will be installed very carefully for sure.  It will be a long night tonight as we only have one usable bathroom.  How did we ever raise our family with only one bathroom.

New Toilet….

Every year at the end of the season, I buy something new for the house.  Last year I got the new back door and this year was the year for the new toilet in the main bathroom.  I carefully shopped and found a round, chair height unit that would fit perfectly into my tiny room.

Right now the tank is sitting on the living room floor….and it is going to be something spectacular when the tank and the bowl are connected and in place.

The old toilet was removed and taken outside, the floor cleaned spotlessly, the new base was taken carefully into the bathroom and……..all of a sudden all kinds of profanity was coming from the bathroom and I did not even have to go check out what HAD happened.  Just a little slip of the hand and my new toilet is now in more than one piece.

He is off to Home Depot to purchase another toilet.

Prayers are needed so our bathroom can get put back together tonight.  It will be a long night with only one bathroom in our house.

UPDATE!!!!!!

Well he is home with a different toilet.  The one I got was a special order and not one Home Depot in Northern Utah has one is stock.

@#$  %&^*  #@%  &!!! #  #@$%&~

Now instead of the 16 1/2 inch rise, I am back to a 15”.   Well it is better than trying to squat over this hole….

WOW~~~Almost Done..

Last week we were at the Cache County Fair in Logan.  I love where are booth is each year under the tall old trees that keep the hot sun off of us.  There is a bubbling brook that runs directly in back of the booth that is filled with playing children.  Laughter is heard everywhere.  We even had our own security when the Homeland Security officers asked if they could rest on our chairs.  Yep, they even arrested a gang member while they were there.  Pretty exciting things happens at the fairs.

This week we are at the Davis County Fair in Farmington.  Today we set up the booth and the fair runs Wednesday through Saturday.  This is such a fantastic fair and so family planned.  We enjoy this fair very much and the people that we work with are the best.  For five years we have been in the same place and it makes it nice as all my customers know right where we will be each year.

This year we are doing fried Pop-tarts.  We will see what the success this new food will bring us.  We are also going to experiment with fried Kool-Aid.  This might be a fun thing or it might be a bad thing.  We will see after a few days at the fair.

I can’t believe that we are almost done for the year.  After this fair we only have Peach Days in September.  It is a sad feeling to be ending our season.  Maybe my body will heal and next season will be better for me.  This has really been a tough one.  Lets hope for all the aches and pains to leave and energy galore to fill my soul.

OH!!!! my grapes are ready and I get to dry them and make raisins next week.  I am the luckiest girl in the world.

~~~One Crappy Day~~~
Well today has been one hellofaday from beginning to end.  First off my body was to tired to get out of bed so I stayed in a little longer (8:45am) even though I had tons and tons of work to do.
I got all the concession laundry and dishes finished and started my personal laundry when the phone rang.  This was a call that set my entire day on overdrive.  Cache County Fair called and said that they wanted us to set up our booth on Tuesday (tomorrow) instead of Wed.  Okay now we are running double time trying to get all done before tomorrow.
Dick called Sam’s to see if our pretzels were in and they had to check and call back later.  They called back and yes the pretzel were in and we could pick them up at our convenience.
I had promised Verdell that I would pick apricots this morning, so I went out to her house and picked two bushels.  Preston helped me get them loaded into my van and then all hell broke loose.  I got into the van and the key would not turn enough for the engine to start.  I pulled out the key and tried again.  Same problem, no start!!!  I kept trying but not success.  Verdell and Jim came out and they could not get it to turn either.  The key was solidly stuck in the ignition and would not budge so I called Dick and he came out and he was not a successful key turner either.  Now my mind is racing full blown and I did not know how I was going to get that car out of her yard and home.  Dick remembered that we had towing on our vehicles and we called the insurance company and they said to call the towing of our choice and them bill State Farm.  Dick called Big O and they gave us a towing company to use and have the towing company bring the van to them and they would look at it.  So we called and waited for them to come get the car.  What a relief it was when the van was delivered to Big O.
We got home and had to leave for Ogden to get our supplies for this week’s event.  Dick was driving through Willard faster than the speed limit and there on the side of the road was Officer Pilivi, who is our neighbor and in our ward, just waiting for that dumb driver that is going to fast and then the lights begin to flash.  He pulled over and was given a ticket for speeding.  Officer Pilivi asked Dick if he was aware of his speed and Dick told him he knew he was going faster than the 45 that was posted.  I have repeatedly told Dick where the speed limit sign is, but he does not pay attention to me and I knew that one day he was going to get caught.
We get to Ogden and run in to Sam’s to get the items that we needed for the event.  We got home and loaded the trailer and now it is ready to go in the morning.
I started canning apricots and got 3/4 of one box done and still have the remainder of the box and two big buckets to do tomorrow after I get back from Logan.  Tonight I have 7 quarts of apricots, 8 pints of apricot/pineapple sauce and 5 quarts of juice.
With everything going like it did today, I was pretty productive and even did 4 loads of personal laundry and we are all ready to leave in the morning to set up our booth at Cache County Fair in Logan.
Our Future Missionary….
DSCN3554
Yesterday Canyon’s very best friend, Henry, was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  This was a very special day for our Canyon boy.  During this past year he has been such a fantastic missionary to Henry.  He made sure that Henry had a ride to all of the church meetings and to all scouting activities.
This past week the missionaries called Canyon and asked him to go with them to give Henry the very last discussion before he was to be baptized.  Our special little boy got all dressed up like a missionary, took his scriptures and went to Henry’s house.  He participated in the lesson and read passages from his scriptures.  What a wonderful experience this was for Canyon to be part of his best friends conversion.
Henry’s parents have not been members of the church very long, maybe a couple of years or so.  Because Henry was not baptized while he was eight, he had to be taught by the missionaries before he could enter the waters of baptism.
I am so proud of this boy and his dedication to the Lord.  He really has a strong love for the gospel and he amazes me constantly at his comprehension of the gospel principles and doctrines.  I am looking forward to the day when he is serving the Lord on a mission and dedicating his time to teaching the gospel to others.
Oregano Headboard Bench and End Table…
DSCN4108
I love this bench and have had a hard time trying to part with it.  There isn’t anything I don’t like about it.  There is something about the back that just seems to draw me in.  I have fallen in LOVE with the color oregano so that is the color that Dick painted the bench then glazed in black.
DSCN4109
I am so taken with the posts on this bench.  They seem to set off the entire look that we were trying to capture.
DSCN4127
After the distressing was finished, the bench just took on a different character and the medallion just wants to pop right out at you.
DSCN4128
We found this table at our favorite store in the whole wide world, DI’s.  When my eye caught a glimpse of it, I went as fast as my legs would take me to grab the ticket off before anyone else could buy it.  It was an ugly brown (no before picture as the painter man beat me before pictures were taken).  After a light sanding and a good coat of primer and spray paint this is what we came up with.  It too is in the oregano and glazed with black.
I love how the table and bench compliment each other.  Tomorrow I get to bring them into my home to enjoy until they find a new home.
