New Church Calling....

Today we met with the Stake Presidency and was given a calling in the foreign extraction department. We will be working with the Danish section.

This is a calling that will be rewarding as we will be able to prepare names to be submitted to the temple for work to be done for those that have gone before us. We were able to choose the Danish line as both sides of Dick's family comes directly from Denmark. Who knows, maybe we will find some of his relatives that have been waiting for someone to do the necessary work so they can progress in the heavens.

I, myself, am extra excited about this calling as it is something that I have wanted to do for a very long time. I have always had a desire to do genealogical work. Maybe I will be able to feel a closeness to those that I do the work for. Someday when we meet we will be able to have a kinship with each other that will last for eternity.

I am so glad for a calling as it has been a long time since I have held a church calling. When we left West Valley and moved to Brigham City I was released from my calling and was not given one here. It seems like when you are in the service of the Lord things seem to run more smoothly than when you are not serving Him. Maybe I can get back on the right path and my life with not have as many bumps along the way. I am anxious to get started.

Christmas Snow

We have been pounded with snow the last few days, but the snow last night was the worst. We were at Derek and Kelly's last night and had to hurry and leave as the snow was coming down so fast. Our normal trip of 30 minutes took and hour and at one point it was almost a white out (very scarry). The Brigham City exit was the most welcoming site I have ever seen. We did see a truck and trailer off the road as he could not see where the road was and ended up in the median, another car ran off the road into the bar ditch and another SUV did a 180 and ended up stopping before going off a steep incline.

Today the sun is shining and it is beautiful outside. Dick is busy snow blowing the drive and walks and I could not believe how much snow is being blown. I am glad it is him doing the snow removal and not me.

I hope all is well and had a very merry Christmas. Ours was wonderful.

Gifts of Love

I can't believe that I pulled off this Christmas and got the packages to the kids in time for Christmas morning. I finished the last quilt today (Evan's) but had the other eight blankets in the mail on Thursday. I am so proud that this huge project got finished. Lots of love was shared with each grandchild as I made his or her blanket. What an awesome feeling to know that each of them will be able to wrap up in my love this winter. Canyon got his blanket last year for Christmas so this makes a blanket for each of them now.

My love for my grandchildren is so strong and I am like a lioness when it comes to protecting them. I have truly been blessed with such special grandchildren. Each one is like a rare gem and my crown of grandmother-hood shines bright because of them. I love you my special babies!!!!

All quilted out!!!!

Well it is nine days until the big day and I am so proud of myself. Today I mailed the Christmas cards and have only one more quilt left to tie (it is on the frames) and one that needs to be edged. I didn't think I would get all eight done before Christmas. They will be mailed no later than Saturday (might not get there for Christmas Day, but they will be well loved no matter the day they arrive).

I just wanted my grandchildren to have something special from Grandma this year that they would always remember. It is also my way of letting them know how much I love them and they are always in my thoughts. Now they can wrap up in my love.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MY SWEET BUNDLES OF JOY!!!!!

Christmas is Coming Ready or Not

The tree is up and ornaments are placed just as high as a little three year old's arms can reach. The village is put up but not lit. Cards are not mailed and might not get to the post office before the New Year is here. Still have eight quilts to tie and bind. Special orders are still coming in for superhero capes.

Oh dear me!!! what am I going to do. Christmas is coming whether I am ready or not.

Meghan, Happy Birthday...

Today our sweet Meghan is 17. It is hard to believe that she is that old, as I remember the day she was born and how very excited we were to finally have this precious little baby girl come to our family. She was so tiny and cuddly and she loved to have me rock her for hours. When she was a newborn, Richie and I would fill a laundry basket full of blankets and put Meghan in it to sleep. One day I found him pushing the basket on the floor and Meghan was so content and still sleeping soundly. After that I had to be real careful where I left the basket with the baby as Richie wanted to play with her and push her all over the house.

Meghan has been such a delight in our lives and has the most beautiful big brown eyes. I like to call them "doe eyes" as they are as sparkling and big as a deer's eyes. She has a smile that will melt your heart and of course she has her grandparents wrapped around her little pinkie. She is a person that you want to be around as she just knows how to make you laugh. There is never a dull moment when Meggie is there.

We are so proud of you Meghan. Thanks for being a shining diamond in our treasure chest of life. You are truly a blessing from Heavenly Father. Thanks for helping us this summer and coming to spend some time with us. You are a jewel.

Asking for Prayers

As most of you know our grandson Richard is in the military. The week before he was to graduate from basic training he contacted Mersa, a very hard to treat staff infection in his leg. He has been retained on a medical hold at Lackland AFB until he is released from the doctor. They keep telling him "maybe tomorrow". He is becoming extremely discouraged and just wants to get into his field of training.

I am asking my family and friends that read my blog, if they would please remember him in your prayers that he might heal and be released immediately. Each Thrusday that passes and he is not released, means he will have to stay there one more week.

If anyone would feel inclined to put his name in your local temple, it would be greatly appreciated. His full name is Richard Anthony Rasmussen.

Thanks in advance for your prayers in his behalf.

Motherhood....

Today we went to Provo to attend the funeral of Zella's sister, Donna Norton. What a beautiful woman she has always been. My memories of her are etched so deeply in my heart and I will always remember how she so willingly accepted me into the family right from the start. I loved her beautiful black hair and oh!! what an elegant woman she was. I loved her dearly and am so thankful that she was a part of my life.

One of her sons gave a talk today about how important her family was to her. Blaine and Donna were the center of the family and they all gathered around them. Grandchildren were most important to her and she was always in the service to others. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of having mother in the home and that motherhood was the most important calling a woman could hold. She had 7 children, 46 grandchildren and 101 great grandchildren when she passed away. #101 was born last night and I am sure that she was so excited to meet this baby boy and bring him to earth to be born to goodly parents.

As Chuck was talking, I thought how Donna and I have so much in common in our beliefs about motherhood. I have always believed that the mother should be the one raising the children and "mommycare" is 100% better than daycare. I am so thankful that my children have seen to it that mommy is in the home. This is due to the fact that each spouse is willing to work those hours required to allow mommy to be home where she belongs. Sometimes it requires following a strict budget and not getting the nice things in life that others might be enjoying. Who needs the fancies in life? They are only earthly possessions and cannot be taken with you when you leave this life. What really counts is the love of family and being there when they need you. What is in your heart is what you will take with you.

Thanks Derek, Tony and Elton for following the Prophet's instructions and seeing to it that Kelly, Danielle and Brook have been able to be "stay at home Mom's". I love you dearly for this and your rewards will be great.

I love being a mother and the rewards are numerous. There is not a day that goes by that I do not take the time to reflect on my children and the joys that they have brought into my life. When I see my children suceed in life, then I know that I have been a blessed woman. My greatest calling in life is being a grandmother. I might not have been the perfect mother, but I can say that I am the world's best grandmother. I love my grandchildren so much and hold their love deeply in my heart. How I miss the ones that do not live very close to me and me not being able to spoil them rotten. I love each of you and hope that you can feel my love and prayers for you daily. Thanks kids for giving me the most perfect grandchildren in the world.

Some of my greatest blessings call me Grandma!!!!

1st Place Champion

Friday night Canyon was in a wrestling tournament in Pleasant View. He was so cute out on the mat and was very aggressive. Brought back memories of another little boy a little older but just as spunky as Canyon was out on the mat in Monticello wrestling for the first time. Oh, how these two little boys act just the same. Now my little boy is the Daddy watching his little boy and coaching him just like Uncle Lane coached Derek.
Canyon had his ears tuned to the voice of his Daddy and did just like he was told and after three matches came out the winner of the gold medal. Oh how proud Grandpa was of him and his eyes gleamed with pride as our little wrestler walked away from each match. We had so much fun watching our little wrestler that night.
WAY TO GO CANYON!!!!!

Changing Light Bulbs

Today my favorite newspaper arrived in the mail the San Juan Record. This is a birthday gift from my parents as they know how much I look forward to reading it each week. When it arrives I silently thank them for the paper and then turn immediately to "Life in a Nutshell", by Terri Winder. She has to be my favorite writer in the paper. She is so down to earth and just tells things like they are. Well today she included a tidbit of laughter and I wanted to share it with you.

"Because we're Mormans, we quite often receive help from the organizations. Each organization has their own way of doing things.

HOW MANY MORMANS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB?
IT ALL DEPENDS!
THE RELIEF SOCIETY TAKES FIVE: one to make the cookies, one to fix punch, one to bring the tablecloth, one to design the center piece and one to screw in the light bulb.
IF IT IS THE BISHOPRIC, forget it, they don't do light bulbs. The delegate it to the ELDERS
THE ELDERS TAKES FOUR: three who don't show up, and one to change the bulb.
THE HIGH PRIESTS TAKES SIX: two to push the wheel chairs, one to handle the oxygen tank, and one to screw in the light bulb.
HOME TEACHERS TAKES TWO, but you have to wait until the end of the month.
THE AARONIC PRIESTHOOD ONLY TAKES ONE. He holds the light bulb in the socket and the whole word revolves around him."

Calmness In Our Lives....

I read this and wanted to pass it on as we all need calmness in our lives.

By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bag of almond covered candy, a package of Oreos, the remained of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheese cake and some Doritos.

You have no idea how good I feel right now.

Have a great day!!!

Day After Election

Today has been somewhat bothersome for me. We got a new president yesterday and no he is not the one I voted for, but he is promising changes for our country. I pray that these changes are what will be best for our people. Something has to change as there are just so many wrongs that need to be corrected and it need happen and soon.

I'm not prejudice but the thing that bothers me the most is his lack of leadership. The other candidate had leadership experience and was so devoted to our country but he also was lacking qualities that I felt were essential to being a perfect candidate. Oh well!! who knows, maybe Obama will surprise us and be a better leader than what we have had in the past. We will just have to see what the future brings. I guess change is good.

Sleeping Beauty

Good day at Grandma's. I'm all tuckered out!!!

TOO MANY COUCHES

Can you believe this mess!! I think there are to many couches here.
Hey, I thought the door was suppose to fit on hinges.
Dad, don't you think it would be easer if you weren't on your knees?

Come on Dad, push harder I know you can do it!!!!

I Voted!!!!

Today is ELECTION DAY. What an exciting time for us in being able to select a new leader for our country. Even though my vote is just a tiny effort in the selection of a new president, I can honestly say that I expressed my wishes my pressing the box next to the candidate that I felt most qualified.

This election was very hard as both candidates are supporting changes that could be beneficial to all of us in different ways. I have never really swayed much from the candidate that I chose months ago, but still had an open mind to listen to the views of both parties.

I am glad that I live in this country where I, as a woman, have the opportunity to vote and that my vote will be counted. What an honor it was to cast my vote and they even gave me a sticker after I voted. What more could you ask for!!!

Good luck to my candidate and hopefully he will be the new president.

Yeah!!!! No Guam...

YEAH!!!!There are no words to describe the elation my heart is feeling after being told that the orders for Guam have been CANCELLED.

Derek called last night and it is official that they are not going to Guam. The past four months have been fretful and many restless nights have been spent on my knees in prayer asking for an understanding heart toward this move. Heavenly Father heard the prayers from the heart given by a very distraught mother and he did answer her heartfelt prayers.

From the words of Canyon, "I'm so excited we don't have to go to Guam. Now we can see you all the time". That is music to our ears. We just were having such a hard time letting these little ones go.

Thanks to our Father in Heaven for answering our prayers.

Update on Richard

Danielle called me this morning and Richard did not have surgery. The antibiotic is finally starting to work on the staff infection in his knee. He will be checked in the morning and if the infection is gone the doctor will debride the wound then stitch it closed. If the infection is still there they will have to do surgery to clean out the tissues. She said that they have to scrub, gown up and glove up before they can go into his room and they can not touch him yet.

This afternoon he was presented with his Airman Coin and tomorrow, being graduation, she was not sure what will happen with him. The only thing that he could not do was the Airman run and she indicated that he will have to pass that off when he can run again. He is suppose to be in Wichita Fall, TX on Monday to do 13 weeks of tech training. We will just have to wait to see what Friday brings.

I am so glad that Danielle is there with him. Tony and Danielle are attending all the events that were planned and poor Rich is lying in a hospital bed hooked to an IV line.

We are just praying so hard that he will heal fast and can move on to the next step in his training. Please keep him in your prayers.

Changes in our lives

We have been wrestling with what to do about the real estate side of our business for some time now. The concessions are taking so much of our time and it is impossible for us to do both at the same time. After months of deliberation, we finally decided it was time for us to put our licenses on an inactive status for now. We have been keeping up with the license fees and everything else that is associated with the business, but have not been actively engaged in selling homes for over a year. Today we went to Salt Lake and did the paperwork to go inactive and turned in our keys for the office. This is bittersweet as real estate is fun, but we just do not have the time or energy to devote to both side of our business. So now we are just doing the concessions and crafts.

I do want to thank all our clients for the faith that they had in letting us represent them in either selling or buying their homes. Because of each of you, I feel that we were extremely successful in the real estate field. Thanks again for asking us to help you.

Flowers

Fall flowers are so vibrant and colorful. My favorites are mums and burning bushes. For my mother's day gift Dick planted 6 of them in our new flower bed. I was so thrilled and couldn't believe that he remembered my love for them.

Later in the month we found some mums and planted them in front of the bushes. Oh!! they are pretty this year. My fall flowers are just gorgeous.

When I took these pictures the mums were full of bees . They were just buzzing around from flower to flower. If you look closely, you can see a bee on the flower.

Happy Reunion....

Last night my Mom called to tell me that my uncle, Kenneth Miller, had just past away. She said that he had prostate cancer and the cancer had spread to his bones. Last week Mom said that he was trying to get out of his wheelchair and as he was lifting himself he broke his hip and an arm. He leaves behind his three daughters, Kenna, Della and Sheila plus his second wife, Peggy.

When Mom told me he was gone, all I could think of was the "happy reunion" that was taking place at that very moment in heaven. Aunt LaRee, my Dad's younger sister, past away in the mid 1990's and their son, Michael past away in April of 1969. All my mind could see were arms wrapped around him from those that were anxiously waiting his arrival. I can just see Michael reaching out to embrace his father whom he hadn't seen in almost 40 years and saying, "Come, Dad, hold my hand and let me show you the way". Aunt LaRee would have wrapped her arms so tightly around him and whispered words of love to him and told him how very much she has missed him and how grateful she was that they were together again. Sweet Aunt LaRee was probably so gitty with happiness. I can see our dear Ofie and Ralph, his parents, as they held their arms open widely to embrace their son and to welcome him home to heaven. I can just hear Ofie saying, "Well, Kenneth, what took you so long to get here".

A few years before Aunt LaRee past away, Uncle Kenneth joined the church and then later they were sealed as an eternal family in the temple. What a joy it is to know that we have eternal families and that we will see them again when we cross the veil. I am so glad that they lived their lives in such a goodly manner that they can stand before their Father in Heaven and know they are worthy to be in his presence.

My heart aches for those left behind, but Uncle Kenneth lived such a good life and was so ready to go and be rid of the pain he had endured lately. His daughters each have the knowledge and teachings of the gospel and know that they will be together and that they are an eternal family. The days will be long and lonely for them as they proceed on in life. Over the next few days, I hope that they can feel the love and prayers of others, as they prepare to lay their father to rest next to his sweet LaRee and precious Michael. Angels are with them. Let them feel the strenth of the Lord as He holds them in His arms and comforts their aching hearts.

Thinking of and missing the children....

Today I have been missing Richard and wondering what is he up to. We left him in Salt Lake five weeks ago to begin his new adventure in life and now it is time for him to graduate from basic next week. Hard to believe that he is old enough to be on his own.

It doesn't matter how old your children or grandchildren get, one still can't help but worry about them. I find myself waking in the night wondering if the children have enough covers on or if they said their prayers before retiring for the night. If they had enough to eat and are the doors all locked tight at their homes. Are the windows shut and is the stove turned off. Did they have a good day and was everyone nice to them.

Seems like I am always thinking about and missing those precious gifts from heaven more and more each day. I am so thankful for these gifts from Heavenly Father and so thankful they wanted to be part of our family. I do love you all.

No Girls Allowed.....

Saturday was "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" day for the "Madsen Guys". Grandpa had bought tickets to the Utah vs. Colorado State game for him, Canyon and Derek. The anticipation for two weeks was more than Canyon could bear and he kept telling his Dad "I don't think I can wait that long". Well the day finally arrived and at 7:30 a.m. Canyon sends Gramps this picture:
ARE YOU READY GRAMPS? I AM!!!!
Grandpa left our house at 7:45 and met Canyon and Derek at the train station in Ogden to ride the FRONT RUNNER to Salt Lake to the game.
This is my Gramps and me sitting on the train ready to go to the ball game. You have to wear RED cause that is the rule!!!
When they got to Salt Lake they hopped off the Front Runner and got on the TRAX train and rode it to the stadium. This was so much fun for them. They found their seats and settled back to enjoy the game.

#1 Ute Fan at the Game

Thanks Gramps for letting me and my Dad have a special day with you.

You are one special GRANDPA!!!

Golden Spike Monument

Today Derek, Kelly, Canyon, Evan and I went out to the Golden Spike Monument at Promitory Point. This is where the East and West railways meet.

The little ones had so much fun as it had snowed, so of course, there had to be snowball fights and the trill of getting wet. They were intrigued with the engines that they have there. There is the replica of both the Jupiter and the 119 engines that met each other at Promitory Point. A big celebration was held and the golden spike was pounded into the track signifying that the railway
was complete linking the East and the West together.
Here are some pictures of our adventure today:

Derek, Kelly, Canyon and Evan standing by the #119 engine

First snow of the year....
First snowball fight of the year....
Got cha Evan.....
Now it is my turn....
I can't make a snowball....
I'm done.........

This was a good day!!!!!

The Healing Touch.....

I have been faithfully following the story of Stephanie and Christian Nielson who were in a plane crash in August and are now in the hospital where both are recuperating from severe burns. Christian is awake but Stephanie is still in a coma. (find her story at blog.cjanerun.com)

The stories written by her sister, Courtney, are so uplifting and you can really feel the Spirit of the Lord in her writings. Today, though, I was in tears as I read her blog. Her brother, Andrew, was her guest blogger and when I read his words, how very true they are. Here is part of what he wrote today:

Many families over the years have come up with their own vocabulary. My family is no different. We as siblings grew up with the word “mug.” Mug is an action word. Mug is similar to hug. Yeah, I know they rhyme. A mug involves the hug but it is much more personal. A good mug could involve the massaging of feet, hands, scalp and back. Kisses from the neck up are free game in the mug. It’s not uncommon for our mom (councilwoman) to call one of her children and say; “ I haven’t seen you for awhile, when can you come by the house so I can mug on you a bit?” So we do and she does and both parties win.

In the evenings my three little girls like to get in the tub. On special nights after the tub I let them choose from one of their mom’s many scented lotions. They take their time as they peruse the many flavors. After the lotion choice is made they climb onto our big bed and wait their turn for a massage. I’ve found this is a great way to get them calm, quiet and easy to talk to. When they are done they put their PJ’s on and they smell so good before bed. This small tradition is a special way to say ‘I love you’ through the human touch. Although they do not realize, these moments are bonding them to me. I take great pride in my mugging abilities! Oh, and Megan always gets one too.

As children of a loving Heavenly Father we are entitled to certain basic needs. I believe the human touch is as much of a basic need as food, water and shelter. The human touch has the ability to calm anxieties. The human touch has the ability to heal wounds. We as parents kiss scraped knees all the time. The human touch has the ability to heal hearts. It can cause one to fall in love but, most of all it establishes a connection that the verbal word cannot.

Last Thursday Megan and I were given a charge from the nurse (Page) and the councilwoman to go see Nie at Maricopa Medical Center and to mug on her. We all understand the great healing power a good mug would and has had on Nie’s ever living skin cells. So we did. We made the trek down through the majestic red rock of southern Utah, crossing the Colorado River into Arizona. We marveled at the beauties of the high mountains of Flagstaff and finally into the blooming deserts of Phoenix. Upon finding Nie I mugged on her. I massaged feet and legs. I offered touch to her bandaged arms and shoulders. I lightly touched her scalp and kissed her face all the while expressing love and counting blessings. We talked about her great husband who is so strong and noble. We talked of her kids and the angels that walk with them at all times. Finally we talked of great times had and many to come. Meg and I left Phoenix this weekend better people. We love each other more, we love our kids more. I’m grateful for the power of the human touch.

Our loving Savior Jesus Christ went about His ministry on this earth blessing and teaching his flock. He cleansed the lepers, healed the sick and raised the dead. He washed the tender feet of His disciples. He asked the children to come to Him and sit upon His knee. He blessed the children. And He did it all with the human touch.

As I follow this story, you cannot help but feel the love for this sister that is laying in a bed in Arizona, while her family in Utah are caring for her four children and trying their best to keep some normalcy in these little ones lives.

I remember a few years ago being in this same situation where my mother was laying in a bed with burns over most of her body and wondering what I could do to help Dad and my siblings get through those days of peril and strife. All I could do was hold Dad's hand and let him feel the love I had for him. Just touching him made things better for me.

I would go to Mom's bed and hold her precious hand and let her know I was there and my love for her was never ending. We were so lucky that Mom fought hard and recovered, but I know that there were times that she did cross through the veil and then returned back to her body.

I have my days when all I want is my Mom's arms around me holding me tight and whispering words of love in my ears. Having her hands caress my face and letting me know I am more precious than gold to her.

Yes, touch is the most powerful healing tool that we have been given and I hope that all of us are using it daily to wipe away tears and to heal broken hearts.

Kottage Kupboard Craft Fair

We are currently doing a fair in Ogden at the Golden Spike Arena. This is one of the largest craft fairs in Northern Utah and was even featured on Channel 2 News on Thursday. It was fun to see all the news equipment there when we went down to stock our booth.
Dick makes these cute little puzzle trucks and they are selling almost faster than we can put them in the booth. It is almost like they are watching him bring them in and rush to the booth to get them. They are so much fun for the little children to play with.
These little cars and trucks that he makes we call "Chunky Cars" because little chunky hands can hold on to them perfectly.
I make the pillowcase dresses and superhero capes. They are both a great seller and I do enjoy making them.
I do love the central checkout events as I do not have to be there and am at home working and my items are selling. We do have to pay a small percentage of our sales for this luxury, but it is the only way to go. You just have to put in a 2 hour security shift once during the event and stock your booth once during the day. To me it is a no brainer to participate in this type of an event. It is so much better than having to sit in your booth all day long and you have better sales when you are not in the booth. We really do excellent in sales with our crafts that we make.
Saturday is our last day of the fair and it sure has been a fun experience. Our next fair is on October 15-18 at the Union Station on Wall Street in Ogden. We both have to work really, really hard next week to get everything done for this event.

CAPES, CAPES, CAPES!!!!

Some little boys and girls are having a fun time being superheros right now. I have been so busy the past week making capes for this craft fair that I am participating in this week. It is so fun to be in a craft fair and see the smiles on faces as they come into my booth to play with the wooden toys that my sweetie makes or to try on the capes and pretend they are flying.

Last week I made seven capes for a woman that ordered them while I was at Melon Days and this week I have made 15 capes for the craft fair. My poor sewing machine is probably wondering just what is going on as it goes from 6 in the am until late in the pm. Today I had both of the machines on the table at the same time doing different tasks on each one. I thought it very ingenious of me to be multi tasking with my sewing skills.

Tomorrow more capes need to be made....sometimes I wonder if I can get them all done before the fair is over.

Oh well, this is what I love the most. I am my own boss and only have myself to answer to.

Life is a Ball!!!!

Our Season Is Over....

Oh the places that we have gone to and the people that we have met....
Funnel cakes, fried Twinkies or fried Oreos are on the menu for you to taste....
Maybe a hot dog or chili dog would be great.....No, let's see if a polish dog would do the trick.....
Why not try an ice cold slushie or a tall glass of fresh squeezed lemonade or a bottle of ice cold water to quench your thirst....
Pretzels or nachos would truly be great......

We have traveled from St. George to
Farmington to Providence then Springville to Syacuse and Provo... On the road some more, to Clinton, Sunset then Roy...Salem and back to Farmington...Off again to Payson to Brigham City then ended in Green River.

Our travels have been great and memories galore, but I think it is time to stop for a while and give this body a rest as it is not wanting any more.

Thanks to all who have helped us and made our season a success.
We could not or would not want to do it without your eagerness to help. Thanks Richard, Meghan, Kelsee, Bethany, Ta'Mera, Sean, Tiffeni, Cody and Danielle.

YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!!!

Memories

Today before we left for Green River an interesting thing happened to me. I noticed that the garbage truck was stopped outside our house and went out to see if he needed me to move my car. The gentleman looked at me and said that he grew up in this house. I was surprised as I had always wondered about the families that had lived there in the past 100 years. His family name was Freeze and his mother sold the home to George (don't know his last name) when his family moved to Ogden in the late 70's to early 80's.

He told me about the house while his family lived there in the 60 and 70's. What is now my sewing room (small window upstairs) used to be his bedroom. The front door was the original door and above it there was a small window that opened to let the ventilation flow through the home. At that time the windows were the type that had weights on them to raise and lower the window. The ceilings were high like in the little entry that goes into my bedroom.

He told me about the old barn that used to be in the back yard that is now located on the lot on Forrest Street next to Val Kotter's business. I was told about the neighbors and who lived in the homes surrounding me.

Mr Freeze now lives in Tremonton, but recently started working for Brigham City and has wondered who lived in the home. He likes what we have done to the home and especially the well manicured yard.

Our home does have history and today one little piece of the puzzle was put into place.

What a Day!!!

Brook walked me through the steps to set up a new background look on my blog page. Oh how easy it was when I finally got to the right page. She says she is my "IT Support". I am so glad she is computer smart and can walk me through things.

We are busy getting the trailer loaded for our last food event of the year. It is bittersweet as our food season will be over on Saturday until April. I do love to go to the events and meet the many people that have played an important part in my life. We have served thousands of funnel cakes this season along with thousands of hot dogs.

Both of us are so busy right now getting ready for a craft fair that begins on October 1st. I have 20 dresses done and still need that many more. When we get back from Danielle's, I have to work extremely hard and get 30 superhero capes made. Dad is busy making cars and trucks. They are the cutest things and kids just love them. His greatest enjoyment is making toys. I am glad he has that hobby to keep him busy.
